Psalm 1

From the Message by Eugene Peterson

1.How well God must like you - you don't hang out at Sin Saloon, you don't slink along Dead-End Road, you don't go to Smart-Mouth College.

2.Instead you thrill to God's Word, you chew on Scripture day and night.

3.You're a tree replanted in Eden, bearing fresh fruit every month, Never dropping a leaf, always in blossom.

4.You're not at all like the wicked, who are mere windblown dust -

5.Without defense in court, unfit company for innocent people.

6.God charts the road you take. The road they take is Skid Row.

  1. I particularly like the wording of The Message. "How well God must like you..." Then the psalmist tells us why God likes us listing those things that folks do who don't love God. God loves us and we return that love being thrilled by Him and who He is.

Those who love God munch on His word day and night. We know from John chapter 1 that Jesus is God's word in human form. God loves us and we love Jesus and Jesus loves us and on and on and on. The NKJV say: For the LORD knows the way of the righteous...and we know Jesus is also the Way.

It's all about Jesus. We're a beautiful tree in Jesus' garden of life. To God be the Glory! amen.
